Happy National Quilting Week! In honor of this week, we wanted to highlight some of the stories of our team-members quilting journey.
Sydney is one of our Graphic Designers, if you know our catalogs, you’ve seen Sydney’s amazing work. We asked her some questions regarding her relationship with quilting and her quilting journey and here are her answers:
How did you start quilting?
My mom taught me to sew at a young age, but I didn’t start quilting until I was an adult. I received a quilt that was hand-made by my great-great-grandmother and was inspired to explore the craft. From there I began to learn from friends, books, and online tutorials.
What is your favorite quilt-related project to date?
I incorporate quilting into my regular sewing projects. One of my favorite quilt-related projects is a handbag with a quilted pocket panel.
What does quilting mean to you?
For me, quilting has been a great way to build community. Like many other people, I started sewing a lot more during COVID with the added time at home. During that time I was able to connect with a lot of great quilters and sewists through social media and small sewing groups. It has been a great source of inspiration and community.
What do you wish you knew when you started quilting?
How accessible it is to learn skills and tips online.
What is your next project?
I’m working on an EPP tote bag currently.
What is your dream project?
I love working with small pieces and would like to make a full-size EPP quilt!
Thank you for sharing your story with us Sydney!
