I'm a decorative artist/designer (painter), have published 10 Decorative Painting Books, with the most recent, Tuttles Touches, Vol. 6 making it's debut at www.artistsclub.com. Many of my designs have quilt themes and details. Connecting Threads' Snow Days fabric line was my design, and I'm working on a second line for next year! I was a quilter long before I picked up a paintbrush. I do pattern testing as well as sew samples for Connecting Threads.

    JOY Pillow

I was a late comer to the Plethora of Pillows extravaganza, but knew I had to make this pillow.  The pattern is from Sherri K. Falls book Holly Jolly.  I selected fabrics from my newest collection for Connecting Threads, Snowed Inn. This was a very quick and easy pillow to complete, it used the fusible applique technique, ...

    Merry Christmas Banner

I chose the “Merry Christmas” wall hanging from Nancy Halvorsen’s Ho Ho Ho Let it Snow for my project this year.  Having just moved into a brand new home, I’m not sure where all my Christmas treasures will fit, so my solution is to make new treasures to fit with the old treasures! This wall hanging was such fun to make, and went together very quickly once I had picked all the fabrics.  It will hang on the ...

    American Celebration

It is such a thrill for me to see my painted design come to life in the form of a fabric line.  Each one becomes an instant favorite with me, but I think that the newest,  American Celebration is really my favorite! When Teri asked me to design another Americana themed line, I was ready, paintbrush in hand!  As most folks around here know, I’m very Red, White ...

    Santa Stitchery

When the book Stitch it for Christmas by Lynette Anderson came in, I volunteered to make the Santa Stitchery.  So, during a long, sunny weekend this summer at the beach, I was stitching away on Santa!  I finished the stitchery during the weekend, and then finished the project when I got back home.  I had a grand time doing this project; it’s just a perfect fit for the Wire Table Stand, and the Tree ...

    My Sweet Saint Nick Collection!

Sweet Saint Nick is the third fabric line I’ve designed for Connecting Threads, and I must say it’s my favorite. In my world, Christmas is very traditional: very red and green, and filled with Santas!  I am a decorative artist, and Santas have always been a favorite of mine to paint, whether they’re my own designs or someone else’s. It’s not hard to figure out that the inspiration for this collection stems from ...

    The Three Sheep Tote

I’m such a sucker for a new bag pattern. The Three Sheep Tote, made from Saltbox Village, was really a fun one. The tote combines both some simple embroidery with fussy-cut pieces to make a good sized bag that will be handy for toting projects to quilt group, or back and forth to work. The embroidery worked up fairly fast, and Mari’s directions to complete the bag are just super. I ...

    The perfect nautical lover’s quilt!

I volunteered to make the Mainsail Set quilt because the fabrics are going to be just perfect in the new addition we’ve added to our beach house. This quilt, with all of its nautical appliques and great colors, will be absolutely perfect! I’ve already measured the wall that it will eventually hang on, and I have enough of the border fabric left to make the matching valance for the window. ...

Quick and easy pillowcases with our beautiful Matsuri lawn!

I was a little unsure of the new Matsuri lawn fabric, but I love it. When I made these beautiful pillowcases, I was so taken with the softness, and how nice they are going to be to sleep on. The wider width gives you a little left over fabric to do something else fun and “girly” with. Maybe some little sachets to tuck in your undie drawer! This ...
