Hello everyone! Have you taken a peek at my newest fabric collection Luminescence? Click on over to see all the fabrics…I’ll wait here. Take your time; imagine all of them in a fun breezy summer quilt or a warm and cozy winter quilt.
My hope is that there are many choices for a quilter to create a mood for any room in the house or any person on your gift list. Quilters are always first and foremost my inspiration. In this collection, I wanted to play with illumination, color, and the curvy lines you see in nature.
Have you ever seen fireflies floating on a warm summer evening? A couple of years ago, I was in Pennsylvania and I saw fireflies for the first time. In California we don’t have fireflies; we have mosquitoes and they aren’t quite the same!
Fireflies are enchanting. I created Fairy Lantern as a play between the adult view of a firefly and a child’s belief in fairies.
Flickering lights against a background of moonlit leaves really tickled my fancy. Within almost all of the fabrics there are flickers of color. In Flickering Flowers, I imagined lying in a bed of flowers looking at flickering stars.
In the geometric modern chevron, Shimmer, there are little flashes of color that pop directionally.
In Fairyland I went all out crazy with lines, solids, small motifs, larger motifs, fun negative space elements and wild abandon. Don’t you just love that Connecting Threads chose this as a backing fabric? 104 inches of wild abandon!
The color palette is one dear to my heart. I would love to see some of your creations and how you put them together! It’s the icing on the cake to see all of your works of art come alive in a quilt or table runner, or whatever you can cook up.
This is my second collection at Connecting Threads and what I really loved about making this collection was the freedom they gave me to create and choose my palette. First I worked with Jenni and we traded lots and lots of emails so we were both on the same page every step of the process. When Jenni left for New York, Winthur stepped in and it was a seamless transition…we hit the ground running and off we went!
I love Connecting Threads and I love the community they’ve built. I’m very grateful for the opportunity they’ve given me to offer up a little piece of my vision so you can fulfill yours. Happy sewing, happy quilting and count me as eternally grateful for my piece of your art.
