The Briar Patch Quilt

The Briar Patch Quilt was so easy to build and Kristin’s instructions are very cleverly written.  The bulk of cuttings are in FQs.  The same pieces are cut from all FQs which makes it easy and quick.  I absolutely love the picket fence border and it is so easily constructed.

When I first saw the Spice Blossoms collection as paper images, I knew it would be fantastic in fabric.  The colors are so rich and full of color in warm, yummy shades of black, orange, green and gold.  The collection is so perfect for the Fall season, reminiscent of pumpkins, harvest, warmth and sleep.  These are words that come to mind and heart for the whole collection.  The topper to this is that it’s flannel!  Yep, yummy, soft, cuddly flannel.  How can anyone ask for more!?!

Once I took a trip to beautiful Lancaster County at a time when the Amish were harvesting their crops of corn, tobacco and pumpkins.  Spice Blossoms reminds me of this Fall time when the dew was on the ground and fog gently dissipating in the fresh morning air. It brings to mind the Saturday markets in their barns with bushels of fruit and vegetables setting out for sale and I can see in my minds eye the collection of Spice Blossoms quilts hanging from the walls of the barn just waiting for buyers to take home and cuddle in front of the evening’s fire after a delicious meal from the home grown foods.  I hope you enjoy this line of fabrics as much as I do, it’s just wonderful!

One of the nicest quilts I have seen in a long time. Unfortunately I am in England and these fabrics are in USA. Bummer

Wonderful fall colors and a beautiful quilt design. What a bonus that the fabric is flannel!
