As soon as I saw Sarah Jane’s 3 Little Birds Embroidery Pattern I fell in love with it; I knew this would make the perfect tea towel to remind me to chase away the winter blues. Her pattern is inspired by Bob Marley’s song, “Three Little Birds.” I love Bob Marley. This is most likely because my mom used to play reggae music for me when I was a happy, bouncing baby in my Johnny Jump Up.
I’m new to the world of embroidery. It was only a matter of time before I figured out what a great craft this old tradition is. I have my great-great-grandmother’s tea towels hanging in my kitchen. Her embroidery was immaculate! I have learned a lot about being patient, and really take your time with each individual stitch. There are so many embroidery stitches out there, so I’m happy I bought myself a handy little guide at my local craft store; I also checked out some how-to videos online.
So, here’s my attempt at this pattern! My lettering is not great, and my flowers needed some help, but this pattern has really clear color directions and even tells you which stitch to do for which element. I’m planning on making a whole series of tea towels for each holiday, and I’m excited to find out what new embroidery patterns are coming out in the near future!
P.S. Check out our other spring emboidery patterns here!
