Kit Builder Contest Winners

You guys really amazed us with your creativity for the Kit Builder Contest. We pored over hundreds of entries all in a one week period. Whew! Finally we narrowed it down to 63 finalized that we voted on over a pizza lunch. It was so hard to choose! Our main criteria for narrowing the entries down was: 1. How different is it from the original/default design? 2. Does it have a creative mix of fabric collections and/or colors? 3. Do we need to make it right now because it’s so tempting?

And the results are in…drumroll please…

The first prize winner of a $50 gift card is Mildred L. We love Mildred’s dreamy, Batik version of the Grandma’s Stars pattern. It is very different looking than the default design, and it reminds us of the Aurora Borealis. Just beautiful, Mildred.

You can order or modify Mildred’s design here.

Second prize and a $30 gift card goes to Dana L. Dana’s wintry Log Cabin Quilt is just so inviting, and the fabric placement is very clever–using the cream and red plaid next to the center square makes the center squares pop and look like little flower buds. Great job, Dana!

You can order or modify Dana’s design here.

The third prize winner of a $20 gift card is Angela B. This bright and nautical-looking version of the City View Quilt would be perfect for a little boy. And we love that Angela mixed so many different collections in one design. Very cool!

You can order or modify Angela’s design here.

And because we had such a hard time choosing, and it was so close, we’ve featured our ten Honorable Mention submissions as well. We’re sending these designers a special little something just because. Click on each image to load the design in Kit Builder.

Thanks so much to everyone who participated in the contest. We hope you had as much fun as we did! Look for some of the finalist designs being featured here and in our email in the next couple months. And if you’ve got the itch to design more kits, I’ve added a few more patterns to Kit Builder, and there are a bunch more in the works, so keep checking back.
