Caddy Pad

I love to take my iron to classes and retreats but don’t like to mess with trying to figure out how to get a hot iron home. I have seen the Caddy Pad pattern made in many different fabrics and it always looks so cute. It not only carries your iron, it is also an ironing pad for small projects when you open it up.  A piece of heat resistant fabric comes in the pattern so you don’t have to shop for it!

I decided it was time to make my own. I chose the Heather’s Garden fabric collection.

I had it partially made and decided I would finish the binding, handles, and button at the quilt retreat that I was going to. I needed to get it finished so I could show it to you. Well, I took it to the retreat and my friend Joy decided she really liked it and wanted a new small project to work on. I told her if she finished it for me, she could have it. She took me up on my offer and it turned out very nice. She used a ponytail hair band that matched the fabric instead of the ¼” white elastic to go around the button. I thought that was a great idea and looked great. So, guess what? I will be making another one for me!

I’ll have to borrow Joy’s for the next retreat!

How clever and cute! I didn’t realize it was a portable ironing surface as well. I like the ponytail hair elastic idea and your fabric choices!

I want one too, not that I take my big iron with me but just to keep it in on a daily basis so it looks cute sitting on my ironing board!! Maybe I can have a different one for each holiday so I can change them out… I really think I’m on to something now…
