Behind the Scenes: The July 2015 Connecting Threads Catalog

Another catalog, another round of fun and contrasting collections! With two brand new exclusive collections, new Quilter’s Candy novelties, AND new outside collections; we are SO excited for the July catalog to go live tomorrow!

This time, just as the weather has been warming up here in the Pacific Northwest, we had to switch our gears to colder weather and certain festive holidays. We had the pleasure of shooting one of our new exclusive Christmas collections, (Jolly St. Nick) at Maryjo’s house—who also designed these welcoming and rich fabrics. Above, you can see one of her many Santas who enjoy a year-round presence in her home.

I can’t show you too much, since it’s featured in the catalog so nicely, but I’ll just say Maryjo’s house was perfect and is essentially a quilter’s dream with her plentiful Americana and country decor in every room in the house.

For the rest of our new fabrics and projects, we shot in a lovely home located in North Portland near the Mississippi District.

This pre-WW2 house offered wonderful little details, gorgeous natural lighting, and some fine opportunities to shoot outside amidst their beautiful backyard and garden spaces.

Blast Off!

A journey to space may have happened, you’ll have to wait to blast off until tomorrow!

We were even able to sneak in a spot for a photo in a book we will be releasing this fall.

The homeowners also keep honeybees in the backyard—it was SUCH a treat to get to visit them while they worked. 🙂

All in all, we were very lucky to shoot in two gorgeous homes that provided so much character and personality to the shots in the July Connecting Threads catalog. You will be able to see the catalog online Tuesday, June 16, 2015 and it should be arriving in your mailbox next week. If you aren’t already signed up, you can make sure to get future catalogs here.
