Book and Charm Pack Giveaway – 3 Times the Charm

Thank you to everyone who commented!  This contest is now closed.  To see who won, click here: WINNERS

Do you like simple, quick projects that use charms? If so, then this book, 3 Times the Charm! by Barbara Groves & Mary Jacobson, would be a good addition to your library.

The authors (from Me & My Sister Designs) show how the use of a pre-cut charm pack (or cut your own 5” squares from your stash) along with a small amount of additional yardage can make a delightful little quilt. There are seven designs but wait, Barbara & Mary have shown each design in three different color options with 21 unique looks!

Shown here is an example of what you will see in this book.

This is Dora with two additional options, the quilt measures 30-1/2” x 30-1/2” and uses 25 assorted charm squares. It would be perfect as a baby quilt, a table topper, or a wall hanging. It all depends on the choice of fabric!

This is such a fun book that we thought you would enjoy it too, so we’re giving away the book to three lucky winners. Each winner will also receive a charm pack from one of three baby-friendly collections: Around Town, Sunday Afternoon, and our new flannel group Sunny Day. For a chance to win, comment below and let us know what your favorite pre-cut is: Charms? Fat quarters? 10” squares? Something else? Giveaway ends at midnight PST, on Sunday the 10th. The winners will be selected randomly on the 11th.

RULES: No purchase necessary.  Must have a US or Canada mailing address.  One entry per person.  Must provide a valid email address so that we can contact you if you win.

My favorite pre-cut is a FQ’s because you have so many cutting options;but I really like them all. A Charm pack is great for making half-square-triangles. This book looks like fun. I really like that they show different color ways for the same project. Would love to win!

  8. Cat Lady - April 4, 2011

The book sounds like a real winner (and I am hoping I am one of them!). I prefer charm packs and fat quarters. The smaller charm packs give me a floater for what is in a collection. When I really like what I see, I like to get fat quarters so I will have more fabric to work with when making a larger project.

Fat quarters are my all time favorite but…..I also love the charms. Have quite a collection of charms that I am looking for great ideas to use them. I am also purchasing some of the 2 1/2″ strips. I am thinking that the charms and strips can be combined.

  44. Gina - April 4, 2011

  53. Wendy Paull - April 4, 2011

I, like most people, love having fat quarters, but can VERY rarely afford a whole line of them. 10″ squares on the other hand, allow you to either cut 4 charm packs from them, or room to fussy cut. They are also nice for lines that include large prints.

  64. Nan MacArthur - April 4, 2011

I have been ordering from Connecting Threads whenever I have need of more fabrics and the quality is great, the selections are fantastic and beautiful. I love charm squares best as then I can just start sewing. Lately I have been ordering by the yard however and am now making a baby quilt for my off-in-the-future-someday great grandbabies. I am making baby quilts now while I am able to sew—by the time I really get those great grandbabies I may not be able to sew. So someday they will have quilts made by thier great grandma. I would love to win this book as it looks like it would provide me with some beautiful patterns I could use for these baby quilts. Thanks so much for this contest. –Nan

  126. Roanne - April 4, 2011

  136. Tennye - April 4, 2011

I think Charm Packs are great, but I also use the 5 1/2 inch square as a method of storing stash that is too small for a fat quarter, so this book would be a huge benefit for my stash reduction.

  137. sylvia - April 4, 2011

I have never used charm packs, but would love to give them a try!

My favorite precuts are a tie between charms and fat quarters. Both are very versatile and have so much potential.

  140. Judi - April 4, 2011

What a great book. I like what we call little charmers which are actually a fat 16th. I make minature quilts and these work great.

  141. Mona - April 4, 2011

Just purchased my first charm pack! Need the book so I know what to do with it! 🙂

Layer cakes are my favorite which is funny because I purchase more charm packs.

  143. Regina - April 4, 2011

I like both layer cakes and fat quarters – layer cakes for quilts – because i can always cut them down into 4 sets of charms if need be – and fat quarters for totes and purses and larger items.

I’m just a casual quilter and have never used anything but fat quarters — I’d live to branch out an try something new!

  151. Char - April 4, 2011

I like charm packs. I think you get just enough of each fabric in the line. Usually I buy yardage of one print to go with the charm pack.

My favorite is fat quarters. I love your fabric.

  157. Janice M - April 5, 2011

  158. Dana - April 5, 2011

My favorite pre-cut has to be charms, you can do a lot with them, they are the first I ever had and they are affordable. Thanks for the chance, that book looks like fun.

I am partial to fat quarters.

  160. Janet brown - April 5, 2011

    Love fat quarters….

  163. Sandy - April 5, 2011

I have the “Canning Day” charms from CT that I’m using for a quilt right now. This is the first time I’ve used charms, usually go with full yards and cut them down. The book looks like a good one!

  164. Rachel Summy - April 5, 2011

Love using the 5″ charms or cutting my own. Lots of fun projects for their use. Otherwise I usually buy yardage.

I like both charms and fat quarters – charms are more affordable to add to stash – you know the one who dies with the most fabric wins! So far my mom has me beat in spades!

  167. Kat Martin - April 5, 2011

Charms are my favorite precut to use. I love the fact that you can make a colorful quilt using everything in a collection. I’ve done this with several from Connecting Threads. I even talked my sister into making her valances using a base fabric and matching charm packs for a block trim. She is using you Canterbury collection. They are going to be beautiful.

  168. Myrna Leard - April 5, 2011

  169. Julie in WA - April 5, 2011

My favorite is the fat quarter bundles, but they can be rather pricey. The layer cake is generally my choice for affordability and versatility.

  170. Jenni - April 5, 2011

I’ve used fat quarters many many times, but I think I’d like to give the 10″ squares a go. I do love the co-ordinating charm packs.

  171. Mary White - April 5, 2011

I’m having a lot of fun with the 2 1/2 inch strips right now…I’ve found lots of great patterns to use up my stash I recently purchased from Connecting Threads!

  172. Cheryl - April 5, 2011

It’s a toss up between charms and fat quarters but I think that I will say charms. They have been a real time saver for me when I need to make up a small quick project for a birthday!

  173. Caryn Sakaguchi - April 5, 2011

I’m torn between fat quarters, charm packs, and jelly rolls. They all have their own “charms” and usage. They definitely make projects easier and are great for last minute gifts.
