Laraine

I started tole painting after taking classes with a friend many, many years ago, and then started quilting after coming to work at Crafts Americana in 2001. I still enjoy doing both although finding the time to do either is a challenge right now. Here at Crafts Americana I work with our fabric and thread vendors handling orders, and our warehouse fabric team scheduling kits.

    Snapshots Quilt

Shhh!  Don’t tell anyone, but I have a bit of a problem-- I can’t go anywhere near flannel without reaching out and stroking it.  And our flannel is especially nice to touch!  So when Big Sky Lodge arrived I started thinking about which quilt I wanted to make.   Snapshots was an easy choice: it uses plaid in the borders, and is blue (two more things I’m partial to).  I also loved that it showcases the animal print just beautifully.

    Teddy & Frosty Gift Tags

I’m a sucker for tags…all sorts of tags.  So when I saw the Teddy and Frosty Gift Tags Pattern Download by Sipiweske Quilt Designs I fell in love.  They are incredibly adorable and several people in the office have been eyeing them, so I have to be on guard to make sure they don’t mysteriously disappear!

Fly With Me Baby Quilt Kit

My stash of kid’s quilts expanded once again when I saw Kristin’s fun design and had to sew it up.  I love how the lightning bolts from our adorable Soaked collection frame the quilt, adding some drama to the scene, while the airplanes are safely circling around through the rain clouds.

    Gifty Galore 2011: Heart Sachets

These are super cute and relatively easy to make.  The pattern and instructions are from the book A Creative Christmas.  I used prints from our new Pineberry collection and appliquéd them on Brown Mirage instead of using wool as called for in the book.  Because of this I have a few hints to share with you.  Unlike wool, the fabric does tend to fray on the edges which I think just adds to the country look.
