This issue has been weighing on me for many weeks. Many of you know by now that we’ve discovered the network that hosts this site has some limitations. Specifically, on the home page, far right, down a little, there is a list of our members birthdays for the day. The limit to display has always been 20 per day, but in the past, our membership was not so large and most days everyone was displayed.
We’ve grown! And now that ...
Sadly, Applique month is winding down. This has been, by far, my favorite month of techniques. I just posted the 15th and final segment. You can click here to get to the final segment, and from there, just look at the far left column to see all 15 topics. These will stay up indefinitely.
Some of the featured tools are on sale, but only through the last day of July, so don’t miss out! In the 15th segment I ...
Karen and I met for the first time last summer at the Long Beach Quilt Festival. I took her appliqué class and have to gush just a bit. I’ve taken quite a few appliqué classes, always looking for better techniques, but Karen’s was the BEST. Not only was it fun, but I walked away with brand new skills, despite having appliquéd for years.
Here we are ...
Here they are! Five lucky quilters win Anita’s book, contributed by C&T Publishing, and a Fat 8th Pack from Connecting Threads. I have to say this was the most popular drawing in our history! For those of you inconvenienced by the deluge of email, I’m so sorry!

Congratulations winners! I’ll notify you privately as well, so you can provide me with a mailing address privately.
If you’ve ever looked into applique at all, you’ll know this is a huge topic. There are so many options, so many techniques within the topic. All year, I’ve been looking forward to this month because it’s APPLIQUE month!
If you haven’t been following along, but are even mildly interested in applique, click on over to my tutorials to take a look. Instead of one tutorial for each week, like I’ve done with past topics, I’ve broken it down ...
This week I did things a bit different. Instead of just one tutorial for the whole week, I posted 4! Learn several different methods for prepping your fabric and templates before you stitch. And don’t forget the FREE Pattern!
Join me for week one – here’s a free pattern to get you started! I’ll be using this design to demonstrate all the various applique techniques.
This week, I give an overview of some of the methods out there. If you’ve never tried applique, or are looking for new methods, this will be the place to be.
Here’s a link to the tutorial, and here’s a link to my Quilt Along group.
Like many of you, I’m ready to enjoy a three day weekend. Yes, quilting will surely be a part of it! This is a great time to take a moment to appreciate the freedoms we have in this fine country, despite its flaws, and to continue to thank the men and women in our armed forces that protect that freedom still.
May the fireworks begin!
p.s. Applique month will begin on Tuesday when I’m back in ...
Wow, so much is going on today! First and foremost – we’re celebrating Laraine’s 50th birthday! Her actual day is over the holiday weekend, so we picked today for potluck and general mayhem. Here’s Laraine with her mourning veil 🙂
Then it was the re-launch of Mari’s Gifty Galore Quilt Along. If you haven’t seen her FREE pattern yet, then hop on over to her group – it’s an adorable peppermint pincushion.
