Follow along with our team of quilters as we show off our new projects, discuss new and exciting techniques, talk about new fabric collections, and share news about the latest and greatest happenings here at Connecting Threads.
I have worked for Connecting Threads since 1997. I am the Outreach Director. I work with our outside Independent Pattern Designers. I am also involved with our new tools and books from the start until they are showing on our website. This is a great place to work! Quilts and coworkers that share the love of quilting, what more could I ask for in a job?
I love the new Primitive Pennies fabric collection. It looks so warm and cozy. I love to snuggle in and drink warm drinks when it is cold outside and I love penny rugs. My project for 12 Weeks of Christmas is a Penny Mug Rug!
I have been so happy since Bobbi Blackbird and Candy Cardinal came into my life. Just kidding. No, I’m not. These adorable litle pincusions make me smile every time I look at them. I collect fun pincushions that I display in my sewing room and change them throughout the year. I would use Bobby for every day and Candy during the holidays.
I love to take my iron to classes and retreats but don’t like to mess with trying to figure out how to get a hot iron home. I have seen the Caddy Pad pattern made in many different fabrics and it always looks so cute.
I made the Travel Tissue Case. It is a free download pattern so you don't have to buy a pattern to make it. It is a great gift and doesn't use much fabric. This is my first one that I made but I plan on making more. I love that it has the zippered section so you can put your lipstick, credit card and money in it, or any other little items you can't live without and off you go.
The sunflower is a beautiful reminder of the grace of summer and the welcoming of fall. What better way to celebrate a lovely time of year and greet a new season than to place this bold and brassy August Candle Mat in your home. Again, made from Quilter’s Candy, the August Candle Mat truly captures the essence of the sunflower in these warm, peppy colors. Enjoy!
OK, so did you expect something different? Of course not! July is ALWAYS red, white, and blue, and packed with celebration! I have to admit, the July Candle Mat is one of my favorites sporting the American flag and the firecracker... BOOM! It’s just pure fun and all the fabrics are from the Quilter’s Candy collection! The July Candle Mat will make a great July 4th gift! Enjoy!
Our Homegrown II fabric, Garden really needed to be put front and center. It was so popular Connecting Threads brought it back. An ideal print for a table runner, Vegetable Medley showcases bold and transfused vegetables for a clearly distinct kitchen-themed design.
Taking this project on was a bit of a dare; I was challenged to use our solid Cornflower from the Quilter’s Candy collection in a creative yet innovative way. One of my favorite quilting inclinations is to use a touch of applique with every quilt. How can I design a quilt using our Solid Cornflower and not use the actual flower? NOT! Introducing… Cornflower Blue…
Oh, my, gosh! How I love brights! So, I’ve been carrying around in my head for months this quilt image that is only pieced with bright fabrics with a white-on-white background, and the brights were given ample room so they explode off the white space. I’m so ready for spring and the pick-me-up we get from the sun and beautiful flowers, hence, Spring into Bloom!
