Wonky Stars

It was fun to work with Jenni Calo’s Rest in Pieces collection when I designed Wonky Stars. The rustic but quirky contrast in the fabrics matched the traditional feel with “wonky” stars in this quilt.

Wonky Stars, 63-1/2″ x 81-1/2″, uses fabrics from the Rest in Pieces and Quilter’s Candy Basics collections. The centers of the Wonky Star blocks are fussy cut spooky images from the focal fabric, 6087 Haunted Grounds Cream. The Snowball blocks feature 6104 Pumpkin Toss Taupe and the borders uses 6090 Ghosts & Ghouls Lilac. Supporting fabrics add to the visual texture of the quilt.

The Wonky Star blocks are pieced with templates but all the other points are made using the simple stitch and flip technique. Once the quilt top is assembled, a dynamic secondary pattern emerges to add a sense of movement for the eye to follow.

Wonky Stars will be a charming addition to your seasonal decorating!

Great colors. Great pattern. I’ll have to find the perfect focus fabric and do this one next!

I love this one!. It is such a beautiful line of fabric and pattern and together they make a perfect quilt. It celebrates the season, but doesn’t scream Halloween.
