The Mug Rugs and Napkins are lovely in our Winter’s Evening collection! The mug rugs are perfect for mugs of coffee or cocoa, cups of tea, and glasses of eggnog or wine, with just enough room for a snack or sweet treat. The napkins are sized just right for casual entertaining. Here are the fabrics from the Winter’s Evening collection:

The construction is simple. The circles on the mug rugs, with fussy cut poinsettias, can be appliquéd with the method of your choice. I used a narrow satin stitch to secure the edges of mine. They are then quilted and trimmed. The napkins, which have two layers, are shown in the catalog with square corners but they can be curved as well. When I made my samples, I used a CD to trim the corners of the mug rugs and the napkins.

I plan to make a set or two for holiday gatherings. Mug Rugs and Napkins would be a much appreciated hostess gift or present for friends and family members. Sounds like it is time to start sewing a bunch of these for the holidays!

When I saw this kit in the catalog I loved the set. The curved corners really make them look different and charming.

Thanks! I like the look of the curved corners too…and it easier to add binding!
