Gifty Galore is back and better than ever! For those who aren’t familiar, Gifty Galore is a Quilt Along where we offer a new, fun, and clever gift idea each week through December 8th. This year’s Gifty Galore lineup features a mix of larger, weekend projects created EXCLUSIVELY for you by Independent Designers, and a variety of smaller projects originating from online blogs that you can complete in less than a day. There are so many wonderful projects that our team has prepared and we just know that you’ll love making them.

We’ve done Gifty Galore for several years now, and after much planning and preparation, we are delighted to announce some of the changes you’ll see with this year’s Quilt Along. See below for more details!

We have a lovely new face and voice to Gifty this year, along with a new approach, and of course projects. Our new face is bright and cheery Anita! Our new approach is providing you specifically with weekend projects that are NEW and EXCLUSIVE and that have been designed especially for you from a number of outside designers! We also have a number of small projects that can be constructed in an afternoon or evening. We are so very excited about this year because the projects are delightful and come from all new sources!

Small Projects

Hi! Mari here! I am introducing the small projects which come from a variety of blogs on the World Wide Web. One of the greatest things happening in the sewing world is that people are creating their own personal blog sites. Many are designed to share and enjoy, and there is an abundance of beautiful projects that will fit any number of needs one can imagine. The image above is just a smattering of what Anita and I will have in store for you. These projects are small, doable in a short period of time, and are practical and delightful. They are gift ideas easily duplicated for many, yet can be made personal and unique for each individual. Just note, there are more than what is shown here!

Large Projects

Hi, I’m Anita! I have the choice privilege to work with wonderful pattern designers from all over through our Independent Designer Program (IDP). From these designers, we have 12 EXCLUSIVE projects ranging in size and difficulty. Each project should be able to be completed in a weekend, depending on your skill level. You won’t find these projects anywhere else, so get ready to sew, sew, sew!

Remember, you have two of us to rally you, to inspire anew and create, dominate and populate, that gift-giving basket! Wahoo! Here we come! CHARGE!

We’ll be posting a new project each week here on Notions, as well as in the Gifty Galore group on Quilt With Us. Stay tuned!

Ginny, I think you’re going to really enjoy it! It’s new and different, and you don’t have to do all the projects. Just the ones that speak to you.

I’m so excited for the changes! I’m really happy to hear that the new projects will go up on the blog as well. I tried participating last year but the group in Quilt With Us was so overwhelming. Thanks for doing that!

So happy to find a way for those who really don’t want to participate in the social side of things but want to see and make projects. You’ll find all of that here on Notions and all the follow up questions regarding the project! I’m glad we found a way to meet your needs Hannah!

These small projects would also be good for using those fabric of the month collections.

Mine were made of fabric, fused onto cardstock. I used two coordinating Christmas fabrics for each one. There are several steps involved, but it’s kind of like chain-piecing…..you can get a rhythm going!

Oh, I see! Never thought of fusing fabric on paper. That’s a great idea. I was going to just use very heavy fusible material and I think that would work too, but paper might be stiffer.

One thing I did learn by trial and error was to definitely prewash the fabric. The first couple I made I didn’t do this, and the fabric didn’t stick to the card stock very well. After being washed, the fabric stuck great.

Thanks for the “heads up” on that Kathy! I’m not a prewasher but it certainly makes sense in this instance!

And hello from me Linda, so glad that you have joined the chat! Anita, your things last year were ones that I wanted to make, but circumstances kept me from the sewing room. Watch out this year!
Putting the fun things to make on Notions, and our chat’s on Gifty is a great idea. I think many more will join!

I’m not able to open any of the Idea gifts except the first one. What do I have to do to open the other ideas?

When I hold my cursor over the gift icon or over the click here button nothing happens, when I hover over #1 I get the “hand” that allows you to go to the link. Over all the others (2-4); I get nothing.

    Thanks.
