Weekly Curated Sale: Pattern Loves
8.10.2016

As the pattern manager here at Connecting Threads, I get to work with wonderful designers from all over. So for my curated sale this week, I asked some of my favorite designers if they would let me put some of their patterns on sale. I’ve chosen a few tools to go along with the patterns. I can’t blog about each of the patterns, but you can go here to see everything on sale.

I love applique patterns especially fusible applique. You can get a lot of character with very little effort.

Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 is a must have for fusible applique. It is easy to use and light enough it won’t get too bulky or hard to stitch through.

If you haven’t tried the Applique Pressing Sheet, it really makes fusible applique a lot easier to put your work together without worrying about fusing your pieces to the wrong thing.

Can we just pause here for a second and look at how adorable these snowmen are? These patterns are from Quilt Doodle Designs. Cindy has adorable applique designs. As soon as I saw these two patterns, I knew I needed to make them.

Since we are talking cute snowmen, I love this pattern from Kristin Gassaway. Quick and easy to make and not only that, the pattern is designed to make two, so you keep one and give one. I love it every hear when I hang up mine.

Half-Square Triangles are also a design love for me. This Daisy Chain above combines half-square triangles and applique borders! I love the versatility they provide in design. There are some great tools to make them a little easier to make.

Quilt in a Day’s Triangle Square Up Rulers make trimming of your half-square triangles easier. The tool has a wonderful tutorial.

Here are some half-square triangle pattern loves on sale this week.

These two patterns from Cora’s Quilts are based on the same half-square triangle design, one in a lovely table runner and one in a larger lap quilt. I have personally made the table runner and it goes together wonderfully with fantastic results.

Not sure you want to make that many half-square triangles? Then there is this great Frolic pattern from Allison from Cluck Cluck Sew that gives the same effect, but with less cutting.

These two quilt patterns from Stephanie at Loft Creations are fabulous uses of the half-square triangle. One of the things I love about Stephanie is her fearless approach to using fabrics. She is great at blending antique fabrics and corduroy right along with contemporary fabrics.

One of my new favorite types of designs is using big half-square triangles like these from Shannon at Modern Tradition Quilts.

Or this Ohio Supernova from Heather Jones.

Here are some more pattern loves of mine that are on sale this week.

These great patterns are from Helle-May Designs. I love the use of color in Ice Stars Pattern and the use of flying geese in the border of Norwegian Winter pattern.

Starry-O's Pattern Download

These two patterns are from Vicki Bellino of Bloom Creek. They both use English Paper Piecing. Vicki is the queen of English Paper Piecing. I love the precise look English Paper Piecing gives.

Thanks Stephanie, it was so hard to pare down my choices of favorites. I think I ended up with the biggest sale, because I just couldn’t drop it down any further. Oh, well, it’s my birthday month so they looked the other way.

I love to have choices and the ones you have highlighted are wonderful…I am looking for something Southwestern – any books/patterns you might suggest would be very helpful (or anybody’s suggestion would also be welcome :D)
