It’s the week before Christmas and you need a handmade present. Look no further than this Scrappy Quilt-As-You-Go Coins Table Runner!
I know the name is long, but the process isn’t! It’s a really quick project and since it’s Quilt-As-You-Go, when you are done with the top, all that’s left is binding. For those of you who haven’t used this method before, check out our how-to Quilt-As-You-Go video.
I made a Quilt-As-You-Go Coins Quilt previously and I loved writing the pattern; it’s my go-to pattern for baby showers. But what I really wanted this Christmas was a miniature version of the pattern that can be used on tables. This table runner really allows you to play with fabrics and make them the star of the project. I knew immediately I wanted to use the Nana’s Pantry Collection.
I love the bright colors and knew they would really pop with the black background. If you wanted the same pop but with less contrast, you could change the background from black to white. The fun thing about Nana’s Pantry is that it’s so versatile. You could change the background color to grey, yellow, light blue, indigo, purple, etc. and get totally different results that all look great. You could use Christmas or Hanukkah fabrics for a holiday gift, home décor colors for a housewarming gift, pastels for Easter, red, white & blue for the 4th of July…you see where I am going here!
The simple design leaves tons of room for individualization through customization. You could add embroidery, buttons, crystals…your only limitation is your imagination! Although the project is Quilt-As-You-Go, you could even add more straight line quilting for a more sophisticated look.
If you decide to participate in our Christmas fun, we would LOVE to see how your projects turn out. If you’re on Pinterest, upload your picture and tag it with #12WOC. Any images with that tag on them will be seen by our team and re-pinned to our board! Of course, we would also love to see your pictures on our Facebook wall!
