The Week 10 of 12 Weeks of Christmas pattern is up! The idea to create this mini wall hanging actually stems from a childhood memory. Each year around Christmas time, my sister and I would go over to my Aunts’ house where they would have us help decorate their tree, complete with a train and of course…a warm cup of hot cocoa!
This was a special time for us, and we always had a good time. I plan on continuing this tradition of sipping hot cocoa with my two daughters. What are your holiday traditions?
I chose to do my project in bright, cheery colors. Not all of the fabrics I used are available, but these are what I recommend. All of them except 6205 are from Quilter’s Candy.
The pattern itself is quite easy, and it sews up very quickly. It’s composed of just a few pieces of fabric, two nine-patch units, and some fusible applique for the mug, mug shadow, and whip cream. (You can use Wonder Under (21206) to help fuse the pieces together.) I machine quilted just three lines in the white fabric to make the whipped cream look puffy, almost trapunto style.
Click here to visit our 12 Weeks of Christmas page on our website and download this free pattern, along will all the others that have preceded it. I’m curious to find out how you will put your Hot Cocoa Mini Wall Hanging together.
If you decide to participate in our Christmas fun, we would LOVE to see how your projects turn out. If you’re on Pinterest, upload your picture and tag it with #12WOC. Any images with that tag on them will be seen by our team and re-pinned to our board! Of course, we would also love to see your pictures on our Facebook wall!
