Connecting Threads flannels are amazingly soft and snuggable! As part of my job here at CT, I find patterns from the past to use with current collections. I really had fun choosing fabrics from the Quilter’s Candy Flannel Novelties, Shake It Up! and Winter Flurry, and Flannel Basics for Snow Buddies and Winter Flurries.
Snow Buddies shows four adorable snow kids, complete with hats and mittens, hanging around a center medallion. We couldn’t decide whose name should go in the middle, so we had the sewer appliqué “Brrr”. This cute quilt would make a great personalized gift with the child’s name in the center! Due to its smaller size, it could also be a cheery lap quilt for someone in a wheelchair.
Winter Flurries uses the novelty prints 5957 Winter Flurry Flannel White and 5958 Winter Flurry Flannel Persian Blue, along with lots of Quilter’s Candy Flannel Basics.
Winter Flurries is a quilt best seen in person to fully appreciate. You will just have to make one to really see how vibrantly the contrasting and coordinating fabrics go together and feel how soft and cuddly it is! Constructed from Nine-Patch and Snowball blocks with simple borders, this quilt is an excellent choice for beginning quilters! The quilt has a scrappy feel but there is a “planned randomness” to simplify fabric placement.
