The joys of photographing toddlers

When we made the photo samples of Sue’s adorable Fox Hooded Robe and Alligator Hooded Robe kits in our Wild Ones flannel we all pictured cute photos of them on my 2-3/4-year-old daughter and Teri’s 2-1/2-year-old son for the catalog.

The kids are almost the exact same size and have had play-dates together in the past. Cute idea, right? Ha! What a pipe dream that turned out to be! We ended up with one photo we could use of Alice in the fox robe, no usable shots of Tyler in the alligator robe, and lots and lots of out-takes. Most of the funniest ones with parents half in the shot trying to wrangle the tots were deleted, but I thought you’d enjoy seeing some of the other out-takes of photography with toddlers.

Tyler spent every moment in the robe trying to take it off. Once he’d get it off, he’d run out of the room to go play with our photographers’ laptop or try and push the buttons on the camera.

There was only one photo with both kids in the frame where Tyler once again struggles out of the robe, and Alice looks on. I love their little feet sticking out the bottom. They look like little Jedis in training.

Alice is more fashion-focused than her male compadre, and being a little older, she was much more patient about posing for photos. Unfortunately, her poses were a little too ‘avante garde’, or the hood kept slipping down and covering her face too much.

Alice did love wearing the robe though, and she thought they were both so cute. She even asked to try on the alligator one and laughed and laughed at the alligator’s teeth. So the robes themselves were a hit–perhaps we’ll have better luck with the photography portion next time!

Typical children.I bet if you told him he couldn’t keep it on cos someone else wanted to wear it he would have kept it on.They are adorable and so are the gowns.

I think that they are adorable. What better way to display these darling robes then toddlers being themselves.

I agree with Louann. They are both adorable and the toddlers were being themselves! Really cute kids!

LOL!! So cute!! Thank you for sharing with us. You had me giggling as I remember trying to take pictures of my boys in outfits at that age. Hope you will share more “out-takes” with us in the future!
