Squash Blossom Table Runner

As I was pondering the design for the Squash Blossom Table Runner, I was relishing in the delight of completing the Bountiful Harvest Lap Quilt. How wonderful it was to move onto a lovely table runner. When creating multiple designs for the same collection, in this case, Maple Skies, it is always wonderful to make them complementary so if someone wanted two quilts for the same room they will be charming together, hence, the vegetable theme.

With a cornucopia of goods from the garden, there is one that stands out in glee for young and old alike.  It is the pumpkin with all its elegant vines and luscious leaves.  The one squash that brings to mind all that is fall, Thanksgiving and Halloween!  Now, how can I not use it in a table runner?

Made simply of half-square triangles, the inner border of the Squash Blossom Table Runner can be stitched up in a jiffy and simply sandwiched between solid pieces of fabric.  That’s the total construction of the table runner!  Applying the appliqué can be as simple as fusing it and adding a blanket stitch around the perimeter, then, viola, your finished!
