Sewing the Zig Zag Quilt

Occasionally I sew up samples for the catalog, and this Zig Zag quilt really caught my eye when we started on the March catalog. I wanted to make this project because I love the Canning Day fabrics.

The pattern is basically half square triangles which I particularly enjoy because of the ease in construction, yet the versatility of the block.  You can make a variety of designs out of half square triangles.  I also wanted to use large ric rac which this pattern called for but was not necessary.  I don’t have a quilt with ric rac yet, and I love the use of it in this quilt.

It is so fresh and gently colourful, Mari. Go orange – a real bit of zing.

I am looking for inexpensive fabrics/clearance or sales as all my quilts are sent to the Kandahar and Bagram hospitals for our wounded soldiers. I have sent over 300 in 5 yrs. They have told me that many are children who get hurt in the crossfire so also use lots of child prints. I am retired and find it expensive for mailings etc. Can you help me? Love your new catalog,”Sunday Afternoon” is wonderful. thanks
