Raindrop Pillow in Birchtree Lane

Raindrop-Pillow-Tutorial31

I love this pillow! Not only is it a great way to showcase cute fabrics but it’s also a very appropriate subject for the Pacific Northwest which is where I call home. I was surfing the web looking for a pillow pattern and ran across this tutorial for the Raindrop Pillow. When I saw this pattern I immediately knew I found a project perfect to mix old and new Birchtree Lane fabrics. It was hard to narrow down which fabrics to use for the striped raindrops, I might have to make a quilt to go with my pillow.

I of course didn’t follow the directions exactly, but they did serve as a good guideline. So far, between the holidays and vacation, I’ve only gotten as far as picking the fabrics and fusing & cutting out the raindrops; but I’m hoping to get back to this project soon. I’m making it to go in my sewing chair to match my quilt on the wall. I think it will be a cute and cushy addition to my sewing room!

Teri, love the pillow. You’re so right — perfect for the PNW. Need to finish my quilt (from th!e first Birchtree line) and use the remaining fabric for a couple new throw pillows.

Now that you mention it I also have any unfinished quilt from the first Birchtree line, the blocks are all done I just need to add sashing and borders. I’m going to have to dig that out and get busy!

ADORABLE!! It will take the blah out of a rainy day or week (as happens so many times here on the west coast).

What a great idea for the pillow and use of the Birchtree Lane collection! You’ve got some great coordinating prints…Are you going to make the strippy raindrops too? Look forward to seeing it finished!
