Marian wearing the Picadilly Dress sewn from Cottage Chic Collection

I sewed this adorable little sundress for my daughter Marian from our exclusive Cottage Chic fabric collection using the Piccadilly Sundress Pattern by Sewing Sue.  I loved sewing this pattern.  It was easy to follow and has a very professional look to it when completed. I love how the top is fully lined!  My daughter picked out the fabrics and chose what order they striped in.  The gathering of each layer makes the sewing go a little slower than simply piecing together fabric, but the result is frilly and feminine.  A perfect dress for twirling in!

I love this fabric collection for all ages, but my daughters like it by far more than anything else I have worked on for Connecting Threads.  While I was sewing this dress they were like puppies waiting underneath the table for every scrap.

This photo was taken during the photo shoot for the September catalog.  Marian was working SO hard modelling the dress that she needed a little break.  Where better to take a rest than on a quilt that perfectly matches your attire?  Look for Marian wearing the dress in the catalog!

One more thing I should mention about this pattern is the sizing.  It is very forgiving depending on how you gather and tie the straps.  So if you are sewing this dress for a little one far from you, have no fear that it will fit!  I sewed the same pattern for my niece who is 5 and it fit great.

Happy sewing!

Thanks, Joy! She actually has three missing in a row on top now. The tooth fairy has been busy 🙂

Oh good! I hope she likes sewing it as much as I did.

Beautiful, especially against the backdrop of the coordinating quilt.

So cute! Isn’t fun to make clothes for your girls and have them be excited about fabric and handmade things? Little sewers and crafters in training! Lucky girls!
