Judy and I each decided to make the Patchwork Pumpkin Table Runner. Our first “work-in-progress” blog was posted on Notions on November 15th. We worked on our table runners this weekend and are almost done! Since Thanksgiving is this week, we decided to go ahead and show you our not quite finished projects.
Judy’s Table Runner
Judy used a homespun plaid for the sashing, which she cut on the bias for the binding. She used three strands of embroidery floss for the curlicue vine.
Deb did a beautiful job quilting the table runner!
Ann’s Table Runner
I am not as far along with my table runner because I had a bad case of quilt project attention deficit this weekend! I couldn’t focus on finishing this table runner because I was too distracted making yo-yos for a couple of fun projects and packing my “activity bag” for our upcoming Thanksgiving road trip to California.
I was satisfied with the raw edge machine appliqué using a blanket stitch. I prefer the look of Judy’s pumpkins, with the edges turned under before machine appliqué, because it is more finished and dimensional. For the embroidery, I used #5 pearl cotton. I still need to finish the embroidery, quilt and bind it. The good news is that I saw Deb’s terrific quilting for inspiration before doing my own!
This Patchwork Pumpkin Table Runner is a fun, simple holiday project to treasure for years to come!
