To celebrate National Quilt Month in March, Connecting Threads will offer a Quilt with Us (QWU). This is our third Mystery Quilt – yes we skipped 2015. I’m sorry – we did something else last year to celebrate. The response to the past two Mystery Quilt Alongs was quite positive with big groups following on Notions and on Quilt with Us (QWU) – and this one promises to be lots of fun as well. We think you will enjoy making this fun three-part pattern, suitable for confident beginner and experienced quilters. The catch is that you won’t know what the quilt looks like until Part 3!

Blog Post Schedule on Notions and QWU:
3/2 – Mystery Quilt 2016 -Fabric Selection (Wednesday)
3/16 – Mystery Quilt 2016 – Part 1 (Wednesday)
3/23 – Mystery Quilt 2016 – Part 2 (Wednesday)
3/30 – Mystery Quilt 2016 – Part 3 (Wednesday)
4/6 – Mystery Quilt 2016 – Conclusion (Wednesday)

You can already join the Mystery Quilt 2016 Quilt Along over on QWU—our very own social network site—by clicking here. There is usually a lively group with lots of comments, support, and helpful suggestions. It will be possible to follow along and download pattern installments here on the Notions Blog, but I will be answering questions for the Mystery Quilt 2016 Quilt Along only on QWU.

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 2nd! We will provide more details about the Quilt with Us (QWU). A Fabric Selection PDF will be available to download so participants can choose fabrics and order in time for the first installment on Monday, March 16th.

See you soon!

I loved the one two years ago and can’t wait for this one to get under way. What helped was the color/fabric options that were provided 😀

I also loved the one two year ago, it was my first mystery quilt and I really loved the process. Can’t wait for another mystery to begin!

Welcome back Anne! I hope you enjoy this one also. The sewers who made the test samples said they didn’t know until the end what they were making but liked the results.

What skill level will this project be? And can you tell me finished size?

The skill level for the quilt will be similar to the last two mystery quilts – kind of on the border of easy to intermediate. There will only be piecing – two common techniques – no appliqué or paper piecing. The size is 57-1/2″ x 69-1/2 – just right for a lap quilt or throw and hopefully manageable in the 3 week time frame. I hope you will join us! It is usually a fun group on Quilt with Us – or you can follow along here on Notions.
