The Mystery Quilt 2014 Quilt Along is finally here! As you may already know, Connecting Threads is offering a mystery quilt quilt along to celebrate National Quilt Month in March. You won’t know what the quilt looks like until Part 3! You can read more about the quilt along in the introduction blog post here.

You can download the Part 1 PDF Pattern for free here – Mystery Quilt 2014 – Part 1
You may also download a PDF with additional instructions and photos – Part 1 Notes

How do I join the quilt along? You may join the Mystery Quilt 2014 Quilt Along Group on Quilt with Us (QWU) or follow along on Notions. Joining QWU, CT‘s social network website, is free and easy. Many of you, who are already members, have experienced the fun and supportive CT quilting community. Please note, although the pattern installments will be available to download on Notions, Ann will be responding to questions and comments about the pattern for the Mystery Quilt 2014 only on QWU.

Fabric Selection
If you haven’t gathered your fabrics already, download the Fabric Selection Suggestions PDF.

Sewing Supplies
General sewing supplies will suffice. The 6-1/2″ Square Omnigrip Neon Ruler will be useful. Rotating cutting boards, such as Olfa Rotating Cutting Mat or the Martelli Round-About 3 Piece Set, are helpful squaring up HSTs.

I only started quilting last month but I’m gonna do this!!! What I want to know is: what quilting tools do you consider essential? I have many of the square rulers & a rotating cutting mat. What else do I need? Thanks SEW much,
    Susie in Hot Springs, AR

I just heard about this on The Quilting Board! Thank you for the PDF color charts…they have helped me tremendously. I have some lovely grays, yellows and black and whites in my stash…which means I don’t have to purchase and break my Fabric Moratorium pledge! Yay me…Yay you!

I am going to order my fabric today. Can’t wait to get started. I am not usually a mystery quilt joiner, but this really looks like fun!

Welcome everyone! We are up and running!

Susie, this will be a challenge for you as a beginner…but you will learn a lot! It is an instructional pattern so there are additional step-by-step text and photos that most patterns do not have. I encourage you to join the Mystery Quilt 2014 Quilt Along on Quilt with Us (see links above). I can respond your questions there and the group members are very supportive. For now, read the tutorials listed above and I will get back to you about supplies and other resources.
