I went on my very first quilt retreat last weekend and it was sooo much fun! There were seven of us girls, six of us travelled from around here and the seventh came from the Seattle area to meet us. We ate, we drank, we danced, we quilted, and we were most definitely merry! I even baked! Don’t tell my husband though, he doesn’t realize I know how to use the appliances and I’d like to keep it that way!
Fueled by coffee and chocolate I was able to make a cute little runner from the Fast & Furious Home book. It was the perfect project to use my Birchtree Lane charm pack on and I love it! All I have left to do is bind it and I’ve been working on that during meetings so I should be done in no time.
I also worked on a small wall hanging using the Primitive Pinwheel template, it has a pattern included with the tool that’s really cute. It was scary at first to cut into perfectly good, sewn together squares but once I did and then sewed them back together it was like magic. Adorable! I can’t wait to make the Itty Bitty Pinwheel project next!
I started on a few more projects including one from the book English Paper Piecing called Dresden Delight. Those go back on the UFO pile; there is the possibility they could be return guests at the next retreat!
When we weren’t quilting we were checking out the other big event in the small town of Orting which was a hot rod show. They had some pretty amazing cars! We also had some great background sound as they played 50’s, 60’s and 70’s music all day right outside our door. That’s why there was so much dancing included in our weekend. The weather was beautiful and we had a great view of Mt. Rainier.
We also had a sock exchange and I ended up with a pair that said “Boss Lady” which were pretty appropriate – especially if I embroidered a Y at the end of Boss. Here are a few pictures of some of the other socks from the sock exchange along with mine.
I laughed so much I spent most of the weekend in tears! It was an amazing time spent with amazing ladies and I can’t wait to do it again!
