My 12 Weeks of Christmas project!

It’s that time again; the holidays are just around the corner and we here at Connecting Threads have been getting into the holiday spirit with a fun new project: 12 Weeks of Christmas.  To learn more about the 12 Weeks of Christmas event, check out yesterday’s blog post: We’re counting down the weeks to Christmas! I’m starting off the countdown with a new embroidered pillow pattern

I wanted to add some glitz, so I chose to embroider the snowflakes with three different colored metallic threads. I love how simple and elegant it is and how the colors just pop on the solid red fabric.  I also think it would look really striking on a black ground. It’s a little hard to see the differences in metallic threads in the photos, but trust me, they’re there and they’re so pretty!

The embroidery is pretty simple, using the standard back stitch, but metallic thread can be a little tricky, so I’ve given some helpful hints in my pattern.  It was totally worth the extra effort!  Who doesn’t want a little glitz at Christmas time? This would make a great gift for someone or even for yourself!

If you decide to participate in our Christmas fun, we would LOVE to see how your projects turn out. If you’re on Pinterest, upload your picture and tag it with #12WOC. Any images with that tag on them will be seen by our team and re-pinned to our board! Of course, we would also love to see your pictures on our Facebook wall!

I love how it came out. I might try one on a blue background to look all frosty.

I really like this pillow. Something I could work on easily, I think, since I am a Newbie. Love the snowflake embroidery.
