Meet Fabric Design Finalist Leslie Walton

The finalists for our Fabric Design Contest have submitted their secondary designs, so while we get them ready to be judged, we thought we would share the designs with you and a little bit about the designer…

Meet Leslie Walton, designer of “Happiness”

Leslie was born and raised in Peru where she met her husband of 27 years. There, she also studied Graphic Design at the School of Fine Arts of the Catholic University of Lima, Peru. Now, she lives with her family in rural Lancaster County, PA. Leslie is currently an artist and designer for a company in the home décor and gift industry. She has also done freelance work and taught art to several gifted students. For her own personal art, she draws inspiration from her family, whom she adores, and seasons of her life that have been important to her.

This particular fabric collection was in fact, inspired by her first grandchild, Camille Elise. Leslie focused on portraying the softness and sweetness she sees in the little girl. She wanted to create the sense of warmth and happiness Camille brings to her life. In short, she tried to imagine the gentle contentedness, bold joyfulness and quiet thoughtfulness she wishes for her granddaughter. This collection has been a labor of love.

  6. Linda - October 6, 2011

At first my favorite was Laundry Day, but this was my second choice, but now that we see the companion fabrics I do like this one the best. I just love all the soft colors.
Now I have a question. I can see all of this entry and add a comment but when I try to view the other two designers, the blog seems to be cut off after the picture of the fabrics. The comment section is missing also. Hope this can be fixed or someone can tell me if I’m doing something wrong.

These are some SUPER fantastic designs! I LOVE them all! The most outstanding and significant quality of these fabric designs is that they are hand painted, not computer generated, like the others! Lovely work, beautiful lady! You’ve got my vote!

  23. Melanie - October 10, 2011

Three things I feel puts this set above the rest…the soft, dreamy effect they all contain. The depth of the designs;they feel almost 3 dimensional. And last but not least the colors are vivid yet gentle. What a winning combination! These would look great on quilters flannel also.
