Whales, Waves, and Whimsy – Meet Kujira & Star
3.3.2017

The Kujira & Star fabric collection, designed by Rashida Coleman-Hale for Cotton + Steel, is now available at Connecting Threads! As a fabric designer, I enjoy seeing new collections that include imaginative ideas and fresh color stories.  Simple shapes and hand-drawn elements of whales, waves, and the playful imagery of life under the sea makes this collection fun and whimsical.

The dancing whales and schools of fish remind me of my nephew’s first trip to the aquarium. He just loved seeing sea life for the first time. This 100% cotton collection would be perfect for making a gift for your favorite little one! It has been designed in a calm and serene color palette that is pleasing to the eye. It works especially well for gender neutral projects.

Kujira & Star would work well in a multitude of projects that call for muted, whimsical fabrics. How adorable would it be worked as a lap quilt to go in your beach house or cute window panels in your guest bathroom? The sky is the limit when it comes to what you can use this fun fabric for!

Kujira & Star Kits

New to quilting or are just looking for an easy weekend project? The Tasty Table Runner Kit makes for a simple and fun project. It comes with a nice variety of fabrics from the collection and uses a versatile herringbone-design pattern. This project would also be a great starter kit to use if you wanted to teach someone how to quilt or sew.

The Quilted Wallet Kit is a unique project that allows you to take your handiwork with you, wherever you go. With over ten different pockets, it has ample room for cards, coins, and more. It also makes a great gift!

If you’re not entirely sure what you want to make (but still want to add this whimsical collection to your fabric stash) be sure to check out our Kujira & Star Samplers. A great stash builder, our samplers are excellent way to try out an entire collection. Add one to your stash today.

Super cute fabric line. Makes me wish I had a beach theme somewhere in my house. I guess I will have to think about making a quilt for a little boy! I love the burlap & chambray’s that match. Again, super cute together.

The suits conversation was brilliant! So what’s your take on ‘ironing’ as a kind of meditation? Doing something mindless and physical gives you time to let your mind wander. Like wanking. Also I’m guessing extreme ironing is still cool?
