Japanese Lanterns

Japanese Lanterns is a design that waited a long time for the perfect collection. When I saw the Indigo Patchwork collection, I knew the time had come! I wanted the wall hanging to have an Asian feeling with borders only on the sides and a three-dimensional effect with hanging Japanese lanterns. I love the focal 6160 Kimono Patchwork Multi in the borders with other coordinating fabrics for the lanterns. My favorite supporting fabrics are the Ikat Stripes in different colors.

While writing and illustrating the Japanese Lanterns pattern was a bit tricky from a designer’s perspective, the feedback from our sewers was the piecing was easy! It goes together quickly like a Log Cabin. I hope you enjoy making this quilted wall hanging as much as I did designing it!

My mom made a lantern quilt for me a couple years ago. It is one of my favorite possessions from her. I don’t know if you allow photos to be posted here, but I added the facebook link just in case.
