I am constantly wishing I could be transported to the tropics – somewhere nice and sunny where all of the stress in the world can melt away. This yearning only intensifies when summer hits, which is why Island Hopping, the new 18-piece collection by Connecting Threads, is so wonderful. It brings fun, luau-inspired prints and embellishes them with turquoise waters and warm-hued flowers to create a perfect mix of bold yet casual.
I love the Summertime Pattern by Fig Tree & Co. in the Paradise Grove print, but I also think it would look fabulous done up in the Hibiscus Medley print, shown below. Sweet little Marian is the daughter of our fabric designer, Winthur, and looks adorable in this dress!
The Summer Tote Pattern Download by Sewing Sue would also be perfect for the days spent lounging on the beach or preparing a delicious picnic for your family and friends. It keeps your things organized while staying worry-free about sun lotion or keys getting lost at the bottom (we’ve all been there). The Island Hopping fabrics would give this bag such a fun, fresh look!
This collection isn’t just amazing for garments and accessories, though. The Bahama Mama quilt is a great choice for adding a little taste of the tropics to your home.
I think my favorite project in the collection is the Holiday Table Runner kit. I can’t think of a better table runner for summer BBQs or backyard luaus. Just the sight of this little project makes me want to bite in to a big slice of pineapple and sip on some strawberry lemonade. Yes, please!
