Introducing Yosemite Park Flannels

Yosemite Park Flannel

Yosemite Park Flannel

Greetings from New York! I told you I’d still be around! I’m super excited for my newest collection – Yosemite Park – to launch at CT because it’s a personal dedication to my mom! My mom had quite a unique experience being born and raised in Yosemite and having the amazing experience of being raised until the age of 12 around such majestic views and surroundings. Growing up, my sister and I were also lucky enough to experience the park by going on countless camping trips with our family.

When I was just brainstorming the concept in my head, I thought Yosemite Park would make a perfect novelty collection for flannel, and the more I developed it, I loved the retro influence and gender neutral prints and colors that came to be. It’s not only a dedication to my mom, but also pays homage to one of our great national parks, the Native American settlers, as well as all of those who love the great outdoors.

For the focal print, “Yosemite Valley”, I wanted to pack as many of the iconic landmarks in as I could. I also wanted this print to have a vast sense of the color green, which in fact the park has, but also because it is my mother’s favorite color, primarily because it is a constant reminder to her of Yosemite. As a kid, everything was green; the carpet, the couch, the car, her glasses, much of her wardrobe, and on and on. Now green is my favorite color too, I guess it rubbed off — ha ha!

The print “Campground” was really fun to design. I reminisced about all my camping trips and thought of the sights I’d see and the items we’d have to pack.

I really wanted to do a geometric print in this group and am absolutely in love with how “Native Geo” turned out. It’s one of my favorite patterns!

Native Geo – Azure

Native Geo – Lime

Native Geo – Marigold

Another favorite pattern is “Woolen Plaid“; you may recognize this plaid from “Big Sky Lodge”. It was such a popular print that I wanted to reintroduce it into this collection in some fun new colors, as well as bringing back the Grey color way which was one of the best selling SKUs from that collection.

Woolen Plaid – Grey

Woolen Plaid – Lime

Woolen Plaid – Red

Woolen Plaid – Sun

Some other fun prints that provide great tones and textures include “Wilderness Badge”, “Stone Lodge”, “Rugged Herringbone” and “Waterfall Stripe”.

Wilderness Badge – Cornflower

Stone Lodge – Silver Lining

Rugged Herringbone – Bark

Rugged Herringbone – White

Waterfall Stripe – Red

I hope you love this collection as much as I do, and I hope that the projects you make with it create as many beautiful memories for you as designing the prints brought back to me!

So glad you re-introduced the grey plaid as it sold out previously and I needed yardage to complete an earlier qurustic quilt – yes! This collection is lovely with so many basics to add to my flannel collection. I can already visualize the “stone” houses on my next rustic quilt and the camping fabric is great too.

Beautiful fabrics! Yosemite has a special place in my heart as well. My Grandpa helped design the logo and built some of the roads into the valley and graduated from Mariposa High School in the 1920’s. My grandmother worked as a Nanny for the caretaker and my father was born there in 1940.
This new line is wonderful and I think my Dad may need another quilt from me!

OMG! That is so cool!!! I’ll have to pass your name on to my mother to see if she recognizes it. My mom, Darlene Abbott is the baby of 5, she was born in 1945. It’s very possible my aunt or uncle knew someone is your family. WOW!

I am also from Yosemite (worked in the clinic as nurse) and happened upon your fabrics via the web. Tell more about the background of this wonderful fabrics! Where in California can the fabric be purchased?
    Thank you!
