Introducing – Sundown
3.29.2017

It is my pleasure to introduce our newest fabric collection, Sundown. It is amazing how a collection of colors not found on a color wheel can still be so pleasing to the eye. The Sundown collection features a neutral palette full of earth tones – the colors of wood, stone, and soil.

The colors in this collection were inspired by the colors of nature at dusk – when the vibrant colors of daytime fade to the natural shades and tones of evening. The focal print Harmony started as an inked outline of gray and white sketches. The added colors tie the coordinating fabrics into a cohesive whole. Both the Harmony and Mosaic fabrics are reminiscent of block prints. The coordinating fabrics such as Flowing Foliage, Flickers, and Crosshatch add visual texture, movement, and graphic appeal. I am particularly drawn to the Crosshatch pattern in Ivory on Ivory – it is terrific background for modern or masculine quilts.

The Projects

I enjoy working with neutrals and having them in my home. Without the influence of strong colors, designs rely upon contrasts of color value for their visual impact. This can be seen in my design for the 33-1/2″ square Starlight Table Topper Kit. The topper works well as a wall hanging too, as shown in the image below. The interplay of light, medium, and dark values add dimension and a sense of transparency. Also shown below is theĀ Brilliance Quilt Kit. I have wanted to design a large Hunter’s Star quilt for a long time; Sundown was a perfect collection for it! The Brilliance Quilt Kit makes a king-size quilt measuring 112-1/2″ square.

Mari Martin’s Tabby Block Quilt Kit also highlights the contrasts of light and dark. It measures 63-1/2″ x 81-1/2″.

Looking for a smaller project for your home or a gift for your favorite quilter? Either of the two table runners shown below would fit the bill. The top one, Harmonics Table Runner Kit is simple and sews up quickly. I plan to have the one I made displayed on a dresser in our neutral-palette bedroom. The table runner in grey tones is the Triangles Runner Kit by Designs to Share with You which includes instructions for making place mats as well. The runner measures 13″ x 33″.

The subtle palette of the Sundown collection is calming and versatile. The colors and designs go well with black or brown furnishings and various decor. We hope you enjoy this collection as much as we have!

Beautiful collection! I am really liking the middle star in the outside rows of the Starlight topper – it’s a great block!

Ellen – Thanks! That middle star has a sense of transparency because I had light, medium, and dark values to work with. It is a beautiful collection and I hope you are inspired to make something with it – that is why our company exists!

Back in the day, black & brown together clashed – I am so glad to see that is not the case any more! I love the Starlight Table Topper…in fact, the entire line is gorgeous!

Thanks Becky! I like the collection as well. I am making a quilt with 409 large Yo-Yos using the browns and taupes and some coordinating fabrics from other CT collections. The background will be the Crosshatch pattern in Ivory on Ivory. Hope you find some inspiration for a project as well. Enjoy!

Beautiful new collection, with many great prints that work together, or with other colors. I really like the browns.

Amanda, I too like browns – especially with creams. We are redoing our bedroom in those colors and I have a few projects I am completing for it. I find it calming when the palette is so neutral and you can still add a splash of color.
