Thank you so much to everyone who commented on our Pincushion Party finale post! Using a random number generator, we selected Anita as our winner. She will receive a fat quarter sampler of our Good Neighbors collection.

It’s been so fun to be a part of Amanda Jean’s Pincushion Party,  and to watch as each person revealed their tiny pieces of happiness (aka pincushions)! They have all been so adorable and individual.

pincushion_6_blog

My first thought when the idea came about was that I really wanted to be a part of it and I knew immediately what pincushion I wanted to do. We have carried the kit to make the Color Wheel Pincushion for a while now and we’ve sewn it up in many different fabric collection – all of which were really adorable. I think my favorite so far, not that I’m biased or anything, is this one out of Good Neighbors fabrics.

This collection is such a perfect mix of scrappy goodness with regard to both color and pattern that I love the way the pincushion turned out. All you need to get started is a kit, a charm pack, and some muslin and away you go. I’ve paper pieced before, but this was the first time I had done foundation piecing and I really enjoyed it.

To finish your pincushion off you will also need to find some drawer pulls for the feet and a button. I think it took me longer to go through my buttons and narrow it down to the perfect one than it did to put the entire pincushion together!

Working with Amanda on the collection was a joy. She’s such a positive and sunny person that it was sad when we were finished with the process. I have to say, I love how it turned out. I’ve actually already made two mini seasonal quilts, a wall hanging, a zipper pouch, and a bag using Good Neighbors fabrics, not to mention this pincushion, so let’s just say the collection works for many occasions!

It has been such an inspiring month for us to see all of the different (amazing!!!) pincushions that have been made along the way. We had a couple of people make the suggestion that we show all of the pincushions together at the end of the party, so, here it is!

While this collage is so fun to look at, it really doesn’t do justice to how wonderful each of these pincushions really are. To take a closer look at each of the pincushions in all of their glory, visit the blogs of the wonderful ladies who made them. Here’s a list (in order) of each blog that participated in the Pincushion Party!

This pincushion party has been so much fun for me. A couple months ago I decided to make pincushion as Christmas gifts this year. This last week I have been making pincushion and using my own scraps. Makes me feel so frugal to be using up every little scrap. I decided I was going to go through the month and replicate each pincushion that was showcased. Hope I can get through all 30 before Christmas. :0)
