Oh Snow Blue versionOh Snow Green Red version

Hi, I’m Kristin Gassaway of Thrilled to Pieces. I’m so excited to share my latest little project here on Gifty Galore. I love giving homemade gifts at Christmas time. But usually, when I’m done making a gift for my friends and family, I think to myself “I really need to make one of these for me too!” And yet, somehow that doesn’t happen. I get busy with other things, and making something just for me ends up on the back-burner.  If you’re like me, you probably give away much more than you keep, which leaves all your precious handiwork in the hands of others. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it would be nice to enjoy the fruits of our labors once in a while, right? With that in mind, I designed the Oh Snow pattern to make TWO wall hangings – One to give away, and one to keep for yourself! (Or, perhaps two to give away, lol!)
Any of my friends over at Connecting Threads will tell you that I have bit of a problem making up my mind when it comes to fabric selection. The fabric collections at CT provide so many good design options, that I always have a hard time narrowing down my quilt patterns to just one color way. So naturally, after deciding to make this project in the absolutely adorable Snowed Inn collection, I HAD to do it in two color ways.

Here’s all the pretty fabric I used for both projects:

Oh Snow Fabric

I sewed up both of the Blue quilts and Teri and Suzie were kind enough to make the Green and Red versions for me. I really love how all of them turned out, and I also love how each of us put our own personal stamp on our quilts.  I chose to hand blanket-stitch around all of my snowflakes with silver embroidery floss. It doesn’t show up terribly well in the photos, but I really like how it adds some extra sparkle. It was rather time consuming to do the extra handwork, but I’d have to say it was totally worth it.

Here’s a photo of the adorable face that Suzie made for her snowman:

I’ve listed below all the fabrics I used in each color way of my Oh Snow pattern. Each project uses all Fat Quarters or small scraps from your stash:

Snowflake Checks, Patriot Blue (6998)

Small scraps:

But I couldn’t stop there! As if two color ways wasn’t enough, I also played around with a few other fabric collections from Connecting Threads and came up with even more options, which are shown below. I’m kind of crazy like that.
