Botanical Beauty was such a fun group of theme oriented fabrics, and I enjoyed playing with them! Garden imagery in Garden in Blues is everywhere from flora to floating butterflies, and sheets of lattice to whimsical pebbles (which are my favorite). There are a couple of fabrics that are tone-on-tone, and with the pebbles, are great transitional choices when working with the stronger colored prints. There is the flower clusters that remind me of Queen Anne’s Lace, or perhaps those lovely “wishes” we find in our yards born from dandelions.
Garden in Blues is designed as an easily made project. Constructed with one block, and strip piecing being the only method, the quilt is built with two color combinations of the same block. Sewn together, it creates a look of lattice work. Also, to compensate for the strong blue and sandstone colors, Pebbles was used to create fluidity between the more intense colors.
If you want a fairly simple and quick project, Garden in Blues is perfect. It will give any room the vibrancy and life spring brings yet, is so lacey and soft looking. I love the botanical quality to the artistry and these blues make me want to breathe fresh spring air right after the lawn has been mowed, ahhhh.
