Fall Projects to Try
10.28.2015

If you are like me, this time of the year can seem busy and overwhelming. With so many things to do and the holidays quickly approaching, you may be finding it difficult to make time to sew. If devoting yourself to a quilt seems impossible at this point, there are still ways to keep crafting without a huge time commitment.

Not only are small projects both quick and easy, they also double as perfect gifts or festive home decor!

Our Casserole Carrier would be so perfect while transporting yummy festive dishes to parties and dinners. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, a project such as this one is sure to be complete and ready to carry your homemade meal by the big day. Sewn up in our Quilter’s Candy Novelties collection (with many prints on sale now!!), this kit is an awesome way to showcase your holiday spirit and includes a free pattern as well as enough fabric to make one 9 x 13″ casserole dish carrier.

I think a cute fabric pumpkin would be such a unique decoration or gift during the fall. Not only are they extremely easy to make, they also require very few supplies so you could make as many as you want! I love the versatility of a project like this- it gives you full creative control to make them in every shape, size, color or print. You could even embroider or piece some of your pumpkins to make them your own. This tutorial by Martha Stewart  gives you a good idea of how to put these little guys together while still saving you time (I never thought they would be this simple). You can find many more examples of this project on Pinterest. The possibilities are endless!

Leaf Potholders

Leaf Potholders make a nice, subtle decoration that you can use all throughout the fall. The pattern gives you the opportunity to create unique, scrappy leaves so you can keep them in your kitchen from September through November. This tutorial by Buttons and Butterflies is also super helpful to ensure you have beautiful quilty finished projects! How perfect of a gift to give to your Thanksgiving dinner host this year!

Any child would adore this simple treat tote while collecting their annual candy haul. Not only is it super cute, it’s also large enough to impress any eager trick-or-treater without being too big to carry around. I also love the Spellbound fabric collection used with it- the mummies are perfect for Halloween!

There are so many more amazing kits from Connecting Threads inspired by the fall and Halloween season that you can browse here. I love the Eek! Table Runner Kit by Kristin Gassaway; it would make a great accent to any entryway or dining room table. Along with the Quilter’s Candy Novelties fabrics, you’re in for a charming beginner project.

The Trick or Treat Door Hanging Kit would also catch the attention of any neighbor! While it is simple to make, the blend of playful colors and ghoulish prints help to bring a creative entrance to your home. Big or small, there is something for any festive quilter.

Autumn wouldn’t be complete without a few simple and fun projects to brighten up a space or someone else’s day! Lucky for you, these ones are quick to sew up without sacrificing adorable results. Try one or all six and feel free to share the finished products on our Facebook wall.
