As the holiday season comes to an end, I find myself reflecting on 2010 and thinking about what I want to get accomplished in 2011. I sat down with some of my co-workers last week to chat and quickly realized that I am not the only one with a number of quilting / sewing goals to accomplish in the coming year. For me, I am resolving to start my very first quilt. My mom has always been a big quilter and over the years, I have watched her create some impeccable pieces. When I was younger, I always marveled at how beautiful her quilts were and wished that I had her skills. Now that I am surrounded by such a strong community of quilting-enthusiasts, I’ve decided to stop watching and start doing!
Last week, I asked some of my fellow quilters and sewers what their 2011 resolutions were. Here is a summary of the responses I got:
Angela plans to finish her t-shirt quilt project.
Laraine resolves to organize her new craft room.
Mari is going to begin quilting holiday gifts in January so that she will have them done before Christmas next year.
Jenna hopes to get a new sewing machine (a good beginner one), try to sew 1/2″ square triangles and make another quilt. If you didn’t read Jenna’s recent post about her first quilt, you can check it out here: My first quilt.
Debbie wants to organize and decorate her craft room.
Melissa wants to improve her accuracy sewing 1/4 inch seams, try foundation paper piecing, and improve her machine quilting skills.
Teri has resolved to quilt her own table runner.
Now that we have shared our New Years resolutions with you, we want to know what your goals are for 2011. Leave us a comment and tell us about them.
Happy New Year!
