As I was developing the concept for Mix It Up! I knew I wanted to create a collection that encompassed two things specifically. I wanted it to be gender neutral and I wanted it to be a stash builder collection. I get many requests that I definitely keep in mind and many people ask for more “guy friendly” collections. Mix It Up! offers so much. With a myriad of plaids, stripes and geometric prints that incorporate practically every color from our Quilter’s Candy palette, the possibilities of this collection are endless.
One of my favorite quilts in this collection – Star Crazy Quilt by Mari Martin – is such a great way of creating a predominately neutral quilt, with the small pops of color that add some fun.
If you want to take this collection in a bright and cheery direction, Tangled Tracks Quilt by Kristin Gassaway is a perfect option. Talk about a rainbow of a quilt, her clever design incorporates hues from Mix It Up! as well as Quilter’s Candy prints to make this rainbow effect, which is just so striking.
Up and Go Diaper Bag by Susan Terpin is such a clever design and color combination because it provides a great option for men and woman to have a diaper bag that doesn’t scream “girly”, but in fact is “hip & cool”.
I think the variety of this collection, as well as the kits that were all designed with it, are such a great mix of bright and neutral, country and modern, conservative and playful. That is exactly what I wanted to happen with this collection. I hope you find it just as enjoyable and friendly to work with as I do.
