Introducing my ¡Fiesta! collection

Last year at this time I was preparing to go on vacation to Mexico, leaving the cold Northwest for the sunny tropics of Playa del Carmen.  I had never been to Mexico but grew up in California and had always been exposed to the vibrant culture.  It instantly got my creative juices flowing; bright, fun images floating in my mind.  I absolutely love folk art and have always been drawn to Mexican folk art and embroidery in particular.  I wanted this ¡Fiesta! to be a fun, bright, vivid, cheery group that had folk art elements and that just made one smile when they saw it.

Rest In Pieces Collection

Last year’s Halloween collection was well received, so we were determined to do another Halloween group this year!  As many of you know by now, I try to be really versatile in my artwork, so I wanted to do a collection that was different from last year's.  Rest In Pieces has a  rustic feel which is a contrast to last year's All Hallows Bash that was bold in color.

Wooden Spools

I absolutely LOVE bright colors on a black ground and Home Front has all that and more. OK, so what is your inspiration when you begin to create in your quilt room? Quilt magazines? Art? Fabrics? Well, I love color and the wider the range the better. Color is an interesting thing, not much more is needed when creating a work of art! Color also affects our moods, frame of mind, and even our general health! Yellow gives us energy, blue and green are restful and red gets us all fired up!

Guest Blogger Marlene from Sipiweske Quilt Designs

Hello everyone!  I’m thrilled to introduce my PDF patterns to all of you . . . it has been great fun working with the Anita at Connecting Threads to get these patterns loaded up and out to you. Just a little background information about Sipiweske Quilt Designs: I started designing patterns back in 2003 and attended a couple of quilt markets in the beginning, but lately it seems that the good old career and family commitments have needed to come before my quilting career.  So I am super excited to be able to bring patterns to you through this wonderful world of technology.
