The results are in and we are pleased to announce that Virginia Odien has been selected as the winner in our 2013 Fabric Design Contest. Our voting process followed the same format that we use for our in-house focus groups. Each finalist’s collection was presented on a design board, and each panel member was given anonymous survey sheets to fill out. Each person who participated in the voting process provided feedback on each of the collections. Participants were asked to rate the collections based on their overall appeal, salability, marketability, and usability in quilting. Once they completed their survey sheets, they were placed into an envelope for no one else to see until voting was complete. Once the deadline for voting had been met, our Marketing Director – Alisha – tallied all of the survey sheets and presented the results to Connecting Threads Director, Teri Stillwell, and in-house Fabric Designer, Jenni Calo.

Design Contest Update!

As many of you know, we announced our five finalists for the Fabric Design Contest a couple of weeks ago. Since the announcement, one of the designers has been disqualified from the competition as they failed to provide sufficent contact information. Given this, we made the decision to open the contest up to two additional participants. The first addition was the next runner up based on your votes. To mix things up and add an element of surprise, we decided to include a “Wild Card” finalist as well. We then needed to figure out how to decide on the Wild Card and we ultimately landed on the idea to draw the finalist’s design name from a hat.
