Book Review: Scrap-Basket Strips & Squares

I love looking through Scrap-Basket Strips and Squares because the projects have a good balance between modern and vintage-esque fabrics–and the yardage requirements are listed for both precuts and stash options. Kim Brackett’s quilts have a fun optical illusion to them. The blocks seem to appear to overlap and give dimension to the patterns. This book has clear instructions and illustrations appropriate for all quilters of every skill level.

The publisher, Martingale/That Patchwork Place, posted a cool interview with Kim Brackett asking her about her inspirations, and what she loves about quilting. You can read it here.

The layout and design of this book is especially nice: it’s so easy to read! I especially love the project “Aviary” on page 66, the luscious jade green fabrics are so pretty! This project uses 8″ blocks and finishes at 61-1/2″ x 77-1/2″.

With 18 designs and 80 color pages, you’ll be sure to love these great projects in this book.

You can get Kim’s book online here for just $18.05 right now. Happy quilting!

Very nice review. I have her books and enjoy her approach to seeing each quilt to the end.
