Thank you to everyone who commented!  This contest is now closed.  To see who won, click here: WINNERS

Do you like simple, quick projects that use charms? If so, then this book, 3 Times the Charm! by Barbara Groves & Mary Jacobson, would be a good addition to your library.

The authors (from Me & My Sister Designs) show how the use of a pre-cut charm pack (or cut your own 5” squares from your stash) along with a small amount of additional yardage can make a delightful little quilt. There are seven designs but wait, Barbara & Mary have shown each design in three different color options with 21 unique looks!

Shown here is an example of what you will see in this book.

This is Dora with two additional options, the quilt measures 30-1/2” x 30-1/2” and uses 25 assorted charm squares. It would be perfect as a baby quilt, a table topper, or a wall hanging. It all depends on the choice of fabric!

This is such a fun book that we thought you would enjoy it too, so we’re giving away the book to three lucky winners. Each winner will also receive a charm pack from one of three baby-friendly collections: Around Town, Sunday Afternoon, and our new flannel group Sunny Day. For a chance to win, comment below and let us know what your favorite pre-cut is: Charms? Fat quarters? 10” squares? Something else? Giveaway ends at midnight PST, on Sunday the 10th. The winners will be selected randomly on the 11th.

RULES: No purchase necessary.  Must have a US or Canada mailing address.  One entry per person.  Must provide a valid email address so that we can contact you if you win.

My favorite pre-cut is a FQ’s because you have so many cutting options;but I really like them all. A Charm pack is great for making half-square-triangles. This book looks like fun. I really like that they show different color ways for the same project. Would love to win!

Looks like a wonderful book! Love layer cakes, there’s just so much you can do with them, but charm packs are so fun to collect, I think it’s a tie!

The book sounds like a real winner (and I am hoping I am one of them!). I prefer charm packs and fat quarters. The smaller charm packs give me a floater for what is in a collection. When I really like what I see, I like to get fat quarters so I will have more fabric to work with when making a larger project.

I have a few charm packs, and no ideas to use them, I am so interested in this book! Looks like tons of fun for a beginner like me. I am a fan of cutting yardage just because I like to prewash, so fat quarters would be my favorite.

  45. RANCHMOM Says:
    04/04/2011 11:10 am

The Charm packs are great for viewing an entire collection with out spending a large amount of money. I can then use the charms for different projects and for applique. I try to keep a supply of charms handy for quick, potholders and coasters for gifts. More patterns using them would be great.

I, like most people, love having fat quarters, but can VERY rarely afford a whole line of them. 10″ squares on the other hand, allow you to either cut 4 charm packs from them, or room to fussy cut. They are also nice for lines that include large prints.

  64. Nan MacArthur Says:
    04/04/2011 12:12 pm

I have been ordering from Connecting Threads whenever I have need of more fabrics and the quality is great, the selections are fantastic and beautiful. I love charm squares best as then I can just start sewing. Lately I have been ordering by the yard however and am now making a baby quilt for my off-in-the-future-someday great grandbabies. I am making baby quilts now while I am able to sew—by the time I really get those great grandbabies I may not be able to sew. So someday they will have quilts made by thier great grandma. I would love to win this book as it looks like it would provide me with some beautiful patterns I could use for these baby quilts. Thanks so much for this contest. –Nan

A few years ago, I cut my scraps into 2-1/2″ strips. This is a most useful size – great for log cabins, 9-patches,rail fence blocks and more!

Charm packs are nice but I’m a glutton for more…… so FQ’s are my favorite. I can make more scrappy quilts that way

  115. Nancy N Says:
    04/04/2011 3:28 pm

Wow, looks like a great book! I’m just a beginner, but I would have to say the charm packs are my favorite precuts!

I have really enjoyed the 2.5 in strip sets. I revised the coin collecting pattern and made a beautiful wedding gift with strip sets! But, I also like 2.5 in charms. If it’s pre cut it’s good :)

  123. Lorrie Deal Says:
    04/04/2011 4:21 pm

  126. Roanne Says:
    04/04/2011 4:42 pm

I prefer fat-quarters. I find I have more options for their use. The book looks like it’s filled with great ideas that might help make a dent in my stash, and I love when books and magazines show their quilts in a variety of color ways.

  127. Darcie Says:
    04/04/2011 4:51 pm

I’m in love with all cuts of fabric, but I’ll admit that a layer cake is not only fun to eat, but a ton of fun to quilt with!!!

  128. Bonnie Blessing Says:
    04/04/2011 4:52 pm

I like this book. I guess my favorite pre-cut would have to be fat quarters. If I could choose more than one then 10″ squares would follow.

  136. Tennye Says:
    04/04/2011 5:53 pm

I think Charm Packs are great, but I also use the 5 1/2 inch square as a method of storing stash that is too small for a fat quarter, so this book would be a huge benefit for my stash reduction.
