A Book Review and Giveaway: Quilts Made with Love

This was a hard review for me to start writing because, in all honesty, I struggled to narrow down all that I want to say about this book and its author. Rachel Griffith, the author of the new Quilts Made with Love, is an amazing person to know, and an absolutely fabulous quilt designer. I've known and worked with Rachel for a couple of years now, and through the stress of maintaining a blog, keeping up with her four kiddos, and writing a book (!), she always remains positive, motivated, and utterly inspiring. Rachel has a knack for designing quilts that can be used for really every occasion. She understands that the sentimentality that goes along with the gift of a quilt speaks loudly in times of happiness or sadness. One of my favorite things about this book is that it is divided into two different themes: Quilts to Celebrate, and Quilts to Comfort. Because I love this book so much, I was eager to get it in the hands of as many people as possible. You know what that means, right? It's giveaway time!

    EPP Fever!

Last fall when Jenna and I began designing graphics for Vicki Bellino’s newest book Tiny Obsessions, I was completely unaware of the world of English Paper Piecing. To be honest, just the sound of it made me think it was far too difficult for me. As I started doing some research, I stumbled upon some really fascinating EPP projects and knew then I wanted to learn how to tackle this technique! Luckily, Vicki is a great teacher and happened to have some wonderful tutorials on English Paper Piecing right on our website so I didn’t have to go too far to learn.

National Organizational Month: Shoe Hanger to Project Storage

This week's tip is a great one. Everyone seems to have an old plastic shoe hanger laying around. Shoe hangers are one of those household products that always seem like a good idea at the time, but then when you get home and try it out, it proves to be more trouble than it's worth. Especially if you buy the cheapest kind that has the clear plastic on the front. The good news is: if you are one of the people who have tried and failed to make your shoe hanger work, there's an alternative use for it that works so well for organizing your quilt projects!

National Organizational Month: Shabby to Chic Storage!

I don't know about you, but the space in my house that I've been allotted for my sewing room is pretty tight. In fact, I share my sewing room with our guest bedroom. Fortunately, we don't often have guests over who stay the night. However, I just found out that we are expecting some out of town guests next month, and it became glaringly obvious that I needed to do something about storage for my in-progress projects.
