    Quilt Market – Fall, 2014

Last weekend, a few of us from Connecting Threads had the opportunity to attend Quilt Market. It is always an amazing experience when we get to visit Houston. Texas really is an awesome state, and so many incredible quilters live there! In the past, we have always visited Market to find new and exciting tools and books, but this year’s visit was a little more fun because we got to look at some of the new fabric collections coming out! After ...

Sew a Modern Home book by Melissa Lunden
Book Giveaway – Sew a Modern Home!

There aren’t many things about my job that I love more than meeting some of the amazingly talented authors and bloggers out there. Melissa Lunden is no exception! When her new book came across my desk, I knew that I needed to meet this incredibly talented person! Her design aesthetic is chic, classic, and, in my opinion, not so modern that it can’t work in most homes. I found her quilts to be stunning, and some of her smaller ...

    I’m Back!

As many of our wonderful blog followers know, I have been out on maternity leave for a couple of months – and what a couple of months it has been! Having spent a good portion of my childhood in northern British Columbia, and having celebrated many Boxing Days with my Canadian friends and family, today is one that is very special to me. Every year on Boxing Day, I remember back when I was a young child, gathered around with our closest friends and family and playing games, telling stories, and generally just enjoying the company of those I love most. While we don’t travel to Canada much these days, ...

Behind the Scenes of our Christmas Video

As if it's not fun enough working at a company surrounded by such crafty and talented people, sometimes our work could even be deemed as play which is pretty awesome! It all started when one of our interns, CJ, conjured up the idea behind this year's Christmasvideo. This year Crafts Americana Group participated in an internship program with a local high school. A few days a week we get a helping hand from several students. It's been so great getting to know them a little more and working with them these past few months. When CJ was asked to brainstorm some ideas for this year's video, he went straight to work and came up with this gem.

Week 3 Pattern for 12 Weeks of Christmas!

Welcome to week 3 of the 12 Weeks of Christmas series! How are you progressing on the first two patterns? My favorite thing about sewing gifts for others is how easily the items can be customized to meet the recipient's tastes. When we first started talking about this 12 Weeks of Christmas project, my mind immediately went to making a pillow. My family has always been really big on holiday decorating, so a gift for my mom was the first thing that came to mind. After a while though, I realized that I had several friends who also enjoy holiday decorating. It occurred to me that whatever pattern I wrote needed to be flexible enough in its design that the end result would work for a number of different tastes and aesthetics. That, in a nutshell, was the most challenging part of the design process.
