And the Design Contest winner is…

The results are in and we are pleased to announce that Virginia Odien has been selected as the winner in our 2013 Fabric Design Contest. Our voting process followed the same format that we use for our in-house focus groups. Each finalist’s collection was presented on a design board, and each panel member was given anonymous survey sheets to fill out. Each person who participated in the voting process provided feedback on each of the collections. Participants were asked to rate the collections based on their overall appeal, salability, marketability, and usability in quilting. Once they completed their survey sheets, they were placed into an envelope for no one else to see until the voting period was over. Once the deadline for voting had been met, our Marketing Director – Alisha – tallied all of the survey sheets and presented the results to Connecting Threads Director, Teri Stillwell, and in-house Fabric Designer, Jenni Calo.

As we expected, the results were very close. Please help us to congratulate our winner, Virginia, and all of the wonderful finalists. From here, we will work with Virginia to further develop her collection, and you can expect to see it come out sometime in 2015.

*Please note – if I hear that any of the other finalists’ collections are available anywhere else, I will post it here to let you know.

*Update: Carbonated Creations will be selling her collection at Spoonflower. Here is a link to her store:

Thank you so much everyone! I’m still reeling with the news and yep, my feet are still dancing! I have to thank all of the voters, all of you who comment, the other finalists, my friends who encourage me, my family Bill, Liam and Zoë and of course Connecting Threads! Oh, to answer the question about other colorways: Yes, there will be other colorways. Hooray!
