A new year, a new quilt along!

Now that the holidays are over and life is returning to normal, it’s time to start planning our quilting projects for 2011. Some of us have resolved to try a new technique or perfect an old one. Many others of us are vowing to sew from our enormous fabric stashes! Well, we decided to combine all of those things into one fun year-long quilt along.

This year we’re hosting a block of the month group called A Year in Stitches. Connecting Threads staff members are designing patterns for each month to make a Calendar Keeper with detachable monthly blocks. The group is free to join on our community site. Each pattern will be a 99 cent download, and there’s no commitment or subscription. (Simply purchase each pattern a’la carte when it’s released.) How simple is that?

You can get the scoop on the group here. The first block pattern download will go up February 1 (along with the free Calendar Keeper pattern), and you can join at any time. If you want to get ahead of the game and get in on a group right from the beginning, now’s the time!

What a fun project. I plan on finally completing some of my ufo’s now that the ten grandkids’ bed size quilts are finished. (pictures on my page) I also plan on using up my fabric stash and making up a few of the kits I have sitting here. So, although I will be busy this year, I think a BOM quilt along will be great fun!
