Bobbi Blackbird and Candy Cardinal

I have been so happy since Bobbi Blackbird and Candy Cardinal came into my life. Just kidding. No, I’m not. These adorable litle pincusions make me smile every time I look at them. I collect fun pincushions that I display in my sewing room and change them throughout the year. I would use Bobby for every day and Candy during the holidays.

Week 3 Pattern for 12 Weeks of Christmas!

Welcome to week 3 of the 12 Weeks of Christmas series! How are you progressing on the first two patterns? My favorite thing about sewing gifts for others is how easily the items can be customized to meet the recipient's tastes. When we first started talking about this 12 Weeks of Christmas project, my mind immediately went to making a pillow. My family has always been really big on holiday decorating, so a gift for my mom was the first thing that came to mind. After a while though, I realized that I had several friends who also enjoy holiday decorating. It occurred to me that whatever pattern I wrote needed to be flexible enough in its design that the end result would work for a number of different tastes and aesthetics. That, in a nutshell, was the most challenging part of the design process.

Gifty – All Bundled Up!

I love snowmen, but slightly less crazy about snowmen than Teri (I mean how many people have a 10 foot snowman in their office?)  I have a great collection that I love putting out every season.  When I saw this cute little All Bundled Up guy by The Wooden Bear and Teri hadn’t snagged him yet for Gifty, I put my name down to make him.

Week 2 of 12 Weeks of Christmas

Welcome to week two of the 12 Weeks of Christmas! Did you have fun making Jenni's Snowflake Embroidery Pillow pattern? Last year I created some doodles and different characters for holiday related emails. Knowing the boss lady (Teri) had a mild obsession with snowmen, I figured there should be at least one in the mix. This is how Sullivan the Snowman was born.

A Book Review and Giveaway: Quilts Made with Love

This was a hard review for me to start writing because, in all honesty, I struggled to narrow down all that I want to say about this book and its author. Rachel Griffith, the author of the new Quilts Made with Love, is an amazing person to know, and an absolutely fabulous quilt designer. I've known and worked with Rachel for a couple of years now, and through the stress of maintaining a blog, keeping up with her four kiddos, and writing a book (!), she always remains positive, motivated, and utterly inspiring. Rachel has a knack for designing quilts that can be used for really every occasion. She understands that the sentimentality that goes along with the gift of a quilt speaks loudly in times of happiness or sadness. One of my favorite things about this book is that it is divided into two different themes: Quilts to Celebrate, and Quilts to Comfort. Because I love this book so much, I was eager to get it in the hands of as many people as possible. You know what that means, right? It's giveaway time!

November Candle Mat

I just love this time of year. It's so full of beautiful colors, and events that bring people together. My favorite activity is decorating for all our special holidays. We had a very long and warm summer this year for the Pacific Northwest, so I was ready for autumn. I thought for our November Candle Mat, a beautiful leaf and acorns in fall colors from our Quilters Candy collection would be more than perfect.
